It’s rare these days that I sit down with a book and immediately get excited. But I sat down with Craig Groeschel’s book Chazown last week and my pen went flying! I felt like he was speaking exactly to the heart of all I’ve hoped to be able to convey here at Be The Proof. And I’m hoping it helps me begin to put into words better the heart and mission behind this blog!

Chazown: Discover and Pursue God’s Purpose for Your Life is newly revised in this 2017 edition. I haven’t seen the first edition of this book, but I can tell you that this book is FULL of information! Just paging through, I knew I would be gaining a lot of information. With diagrams and pictures, Groeschel explains the finer points of Chazown clearly and concisely.
What is Chazown?
Chazown basically is the Hebrew word for vision. It’s what leads and directs your life. Think of it like a gift from God!
One of the things I’ve felt desperate for here on the blog lately is some vision. To be honest, I got lost in the sea of book reviews and lost my purpose. This book landed in my lap at the best moment possible. As I gear up for a little mini-break, I’m taking all I’ve learned in Chazown and putting it into practice as I figure out what’s next!
First, Groeschel begins the book by reminding us that when we are working out of our Chazown, we are actually given 4 gifts that keep us going. We are given focus, endurance, peace, and a passion. I know I’m not the only one wishing for a little bit more of that in my life!
You Can’t Find Your Vision Alone
You will move through finding your vision by examining your core values, spiritual gifts, and past experiences you will take a journey to figure out what you’ve been uniquely designed to do. Then, you are shown how to name your Chazown and put it into action. Finally, Groeschel breaks down the parts that make of Chazown. As you look to small areas of your life to pour into, you are able to do something big. Lastly, Groeschel reminds us that we cannot do any of this alone! Your community is so important. Perhaps why a couple of the last books I’ve read have been about friendship! (Never Unfriended and Messy Beautiful Friendship.)
If you’re not sure what’s next in life, this is the book for you! If you’re feeling adrift like me, this is definitely the next step for you. Take some time to learn. To pour into yourself. Find your vision. To gain that focus, endurance, peace and passion you need to continue on.
If you grab a copy, make sure you come back and let me know what your Chazown is!
I received a copy of this book from Blogging For Books. This review is my own, honest opinion.
