Y’all know I’ve been on a journey towards finding wholeness. To figure out what that looks like in my life. I’m tired of wearing my brokenness like a badge. I KNOW that I do not need to stay in that place of brokenness. But the path out has been rather circuitous and confusing.

Thankfully, there are many resources to help me find my way towards freedom. Jennifer Renee Watson recently published Freedom!: The Gutsy Pursuit of Breakthrough and the Life Beyond it. I picked it up, already in love with the colors on the cover. So, feeling invited into the pages of this book, I began reading. And it had been such a long time since I felt so incredibly known. Watson writes from a place of “I’ve been there and made it through.”

Freedom! is a message that speaks truth and hope.

Watson encourages reliance on God in ways that reshape the way we perceive ourselves and our circumstances. Watson reminds us that we can be gutsy. We can step out and share our story, despite the fear. Because when we do so, we share the great work that God has done in us.

Jennifer Watson reminds us that there is always space for forward movement. That though it may hurt now, those hurts heal, and the scars tell the story God is writing with our lives. When we share those stories, we find breakthrough. We find the ability to share the hope we’ve found with those around us.

With the aid of questions at the end of each chapter, main takeaways, and a gutsy prayer to aid us on our journey, Freedom! has helped me on this journey to discover what God is doing in and through my story. I was reminded of ways I need to care for my soul. Shown places where I may have not let God in to heal all the broken places. And encouraged that I can keep going on this journey because I am not alone.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This review is my own, honest opinion.
