One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. Psalm 145:4
This verse is found near the beginning of a psalm of David, titled Great is the Lord. It gives us the reminder that God is to be spoken about from generation to generation.
When we declare God and his mighty acts through each generation, we are making Him known. When we share the things that God has done in our lives, we declare how great He is.
Sharing from Generation to Generation
One of the things I love to do is journal. If you’ve been around for a while, you know this about me! One of the things I love that I can do is journal and leave behind memories and stories of the things God has done in my life.
Having those journals is one way to be able to recount what God has done. And sharing those shares the message of hope from God. You see, those things are the things that keep our families passing on a legacy of faith.
The other piece of sharing God’s mighty acts is that doing so keeps our minds full of worship and praise. We take our minds off the current struggles and frustrations of the day and are able to focus on God and all he’s done.
It’s not always easy to move beyond the current frustration of the moment. But being able to return to written reminders of all that God has already done for you, through you and in you. That is where the “magic” happens. It’s where you are given hope. You are given peace. You are given a quiet assurance that God is still moving. Still working. And that he will bring you through.
