The Legacy Life of Mary
Perhaps besides Jesus, Mary might be one of the most well-known people in the Bible. The life that she lived, being the mother of Jesus, is like a picture of a drink offering being poured out. It was practice for her to surrender and be humble
When Gabriel appeared to Mary to tell her that she would be pregnant with a child, she asked, “How can this be?” When you look at the context, you gather she’s not questioning God. But she is asking for answers as to how God was going to make it happen.
Her relationship with God was one of trust. She trusted him completely. She was willing to let him use her life.
A Legacy of Trust
It seems to me that God chose Mary specifically because of her heart. She was humble. She had a practice already of listening for His voice. It’s this legacy life of trust that Mary had built that would allow her to have such a large role in history. She was willing to be led.
Building that legacy lifeof trust often takes time. At this point in time, Mary was probably about 13 years old. It’s the trust of a child with a parent. She believed God was going to do the best for her.
Can you say that you have that kind of trust in God? Do you turn to him as a child turns to their parent when they are scared? Lonely? Lost and confused?
I will be the first to admit that this isn’t an easy thing for me to do. In fact, I often turn to myself now to take care of things when I’m struggling. But God says he will shelter us under his wings. He will care for us if we let him. Can you let him care for you today in whatever struggles you are experiencing?
