Proof of Identity
A valid ID should never be the reason a young person gets locked out of opportunity.
The Proof of Identity initiative helps youth ages 13–24 secure the identification and official documents they need to move forward in life with stability, confidence, and access. Through guided support, transportation assistance, weekly group trips, and community partnerships, we help young people obtain birth certificates, state IDs, Social Security cards, and other critical records that are often barriers to employment, education, housing, healthcare, banking, and workforce programs.
Too many young people are blocked from opportunities simply because they do not have the documents required to access them. Without identification, even basic systems become difficult to navigate. Job applications get denied. School enrollment gets delayed. Housing becomes harder to secure. Banking, healthcare, workforce development, and certification programs become inaccessible.
When young people feel locked out of legitimate pathways, survival decisions often take over. Our goal is to interrupt that cycle early by removing administrative barriers before they become street-level consequences.
Proof of Identity is about more than paperwork. It is about restoring access, dignity, movement, and opportunity
What We Help With
State IDs and driver’s licenses
Birth certificates and vital records
Social Security cards and replacements
DMV preparation and appointment coordination
Transportation support for scheduled document trips
Guided application assistance
Workforce and school readiness support
One-on-one navigation through the process
How the Program Works
Participants sign up based on the support they need. Once enrolled, youth are placed into the appropriate support group and scheduled for weekly coordinated trips to document offices and partner agencies. Our team helps guide participants through every step of the process while building relationships with institutions and agencies to make access smoother and more effective for the community.
Why This Matters
Identity access is directly connected to violence prevention, workforce development, and long-term community stability.
A young person with access to identification has a greater chance of:
Securing legal employment
Enrolling in school or training programs
Accessing healthcare and support services
Opening a bank account
Applying for housing
Building independence and confidence
Participating in legitimate economic opportunities
This initiative exists to remove obstacles before they become crises.
